Senior School Hangi

Senior Syndicate Hangi

On the 19th of June the whole senior school participated on eating a hangi. There was 5 stations. Station 1 was the cabbage and pumpkin, station 2 was kumera, station 3 was potatoes, station 4 was the chicken and last but not least was station 5, the wrapping. After our meal had been wrapped we brought our food into the kitchen and Mr Mac and some students put it in the fridge, chilli bins or the staff room fridge.
The next day we had to be at school at 7.45am to put our food in the kai cookers. We gave our meal to Mr Mac and he stacked our little containers.
Around 1.30 our meal was ready to eat. The teachers were yelling out our names and handing out meals to us. This was my first hangi ever and it was so good.
I loved the hangi and I bet everyone else did is well.

Dance in Room 2 with Miss S

Miss S got Room 2 to create a dance based on Maui and the Goddess of Fire. They had to use elements of dance such as pathways, levels, isolation's, shapes and a mixture of locomotion and non-locomotive movements. Please ask your children what these mean, or ask them to show you the movements.
Hope you enjoy the video.

Art with Miss S

This is some of the process we went through to recreate our piece of art.

Art work with Miss S

Room 2 were given pieces of the above picture and recreated their piece of the picture onto a plain white piece. The effect looks amazing (see below).
The picture is a Warren Pohatu. He is a Maori story teller. We discussed his art work before we started. We talked about, shape, line, colour, composition, contrast and emotions. This is the result. Enjoy. Miss S.
